Well, the semester is quickly heading in my direction and I’m having mixed feelings for its commencement. On one hand I’m a senior going into my final year at UT, so I’m going to be sad leaving Austin behind and beginning a whole new chapter of my life. I gotta say, I felt the same way when i was graduating high school: scared for the future because I was unsure of my future. Even though I pretty much know I’ll be working in SA the summer after graduation, then jetting to Hawaii after that, my future is still sitting in front of me holding up a sign that reads “ambiguous.”
On the other hand, I’m a freaking senior! Finally I’ve moved up the latter at my school haha :P Can’t say I expected this day to come. I knew it’d get here, but not THIS QUICK. I still remember stepping on the 40 acres as a freshman and only knowing those people that I came with as freshmen from my high school/SA area. My how things have changed. Pretty much all the people that came to UT from Burbank from class of ‘07 aren’t even enrolled here anymore. I think only 3 of us are left, Jesse, Vic and Me. They say the first two years are to weed out the unworthy, and it looks like that’s pretty damn true after all. That happens everywhere though: people not going to the school they started at, however leave the network up on their Facebook account so they won’t feel as excluded. It’s happened to many friends of mine, sad.
Back to what the point of that last paragraph was supposed to be about haha: I’m a senior! It’s almost time to graduate and I’m excited for the upcoming year. I’m excited for rush, meeting new people, and being around the brothers at tailgates y todo! ya tu sabes haha. After Fall ‘10 I’ll no longer be a neo, so that’ll be nice. I think the only person who constantly reminds me that I’m a neo is Nathan Bunch haha, but It’s ok. This upcoming school year will be phenomenal I already know it. Football looks to be promising, most polls have us top 5 in the nation. Women’s Volleyball is preseason ranked #3! I know I’ll be checking out their games for sure. Our Men’s Basketball team is always top notch, even though they’ve failed to get far in the NCAA Tournament since ‘03. It’s all good though, I’ve done some research and I know the future is still exceptionally bright for Rick Barnes and his horns. Garrido and the baseball team is going to be good again. Read an article today that said Tant Shepard and Cole Green will be returning for their next years of eligibility.
I’ll be getting my first taste of IM Football with the Texas Knights IM Football team. We have several talented players on our team. This became even more evident to me when we destroyed Rho Chapter in our I-35 showdown at the end of the Spring ‘10 semester. I think they only scored once on us. Texas Knights football is no joke and I’ve been vying for a position on the starting squad. They made it to the IM Championship last season I believe, so I’ll have to be extremely impressive during training camp to crack the starting lineup.
Still a single guy, only God knows who he’ll bring into my life next. I’m really hoping things workout and I can’t wait. I’m sure I’ll know right away what the right choice is. Don’t think i can stay single forever haha. What girl WOULDN’T want a guy who can dance, skateboard, play guitar/drums, play chess, speak spanish? ..the list goes on. :)
